522 D Street circa 1940 (04)
A few years ago, I went to an estate sale on Beech Lane in Davis that turned out to be that of Lily Cronin, widow of famed Davis medical doctor Leo Cronan. Several dozen snapshots laid on a table and I bought them. Here are two of them, of 522 D Street taken not long after construction.
The house is notable for having a garage up-front on the street. In this, it departs from the 1930s and earlier idea of housing horses and autos to the rear of one's property. As such, it is an early suburban-style home. The second photo seems to have been inspired by a rare Davis snow. (Year and Day?)
